This observational still life started with black paper. Working from light to dark is how I approached this colored pencil piece. Building values over layers of color helped me achieve the glass and fabric textures. I chose a single object to be the subject of this piece with the other objects acting as support or background. A view from below was intended to make the subject appear larger and more important. By
focusing on a small area of the larger still life I was able to keep this tertiary color scheme. My struggle was giving volume to the fabric. I overcame this by focusing on value to try and achieve a sense of weight.
